Moving from Dallas to Chicago..have I missed anything?

I plan to move from Dallas to Chicago next month. I was laid off from my job, now collecting UIB. I have visited on several occions but do not have any friends nor relatives up there. I have researched neighborhoods, began looking for new employment online. I am planning a pre-move trip at the end of the month. My question is this: I do not have a college degree, but I do have a Cl A CDL (w/ HAZMAT) and I have an extensive background in customer service, hotels, call centers. Will I be able to find employment say within about a month or so. I am planning to stay at either the YMCA or one of those Extended Stay America hotels until I find a job, and then can find an apartment. Also, I am thinking about selling my car...is this a good idea? Is public transportation really that dependable? So, any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. I have always wanted to move to Chicago..this is the last month on my lease, I have no job..ready or not Chicago here I come!!
