How can you be a first round draft pick in madden 10 superstar mode?

my player wen to oregon, won 4 straight pac 10 champs, 4 national champs, and went undefeated for all four seasons. Yet the highest i go is round 2 draft 16, and i have an overall of 88 in nfl? what am i doing wrong?????
