Can advil/motrin really cause blindness?

Last night my friend stopped me from taking an Advil because she said that it causes blindness and even death. I didn't really believe her because she has been known to lie about that kind of thing, but I didn't take one anyway. Is it true that Advil and motrin have a certain drug in it that can kill you?
