I have a 1997 ford ranger 4 cyl / 5 spd /2 wheel drive/ reg cab/ reg bed?

does it have a carrier bearing on it?..I found (on the drive shaft) a rubber ring with metal around it and it slides easily...If so is it hard to replace?
